Growing Pains
by Odilia McLeod
This past week, I realized I needed to get grounded and truly practice what I preach. I’ve been feeling overwhelmed and irritable, and, if I’m being honest with myself, questioning just about everything. Taking a pause gave me the space to reflect, and I was reminded of something important: I have options. I’m still at the helm. It’s up to me whether I move forward or remain stuck. That awareness alone helped me reconnect with myself and regain my footing.
Do you ever just question everything? You, like me, may be in this influx where you are challenging yourself more and more every day. Where you have pushed through your fears and taken a huge leap to change what no longer works in your life. This also forces you to stretch and grow, to be uncomfortable and even a bit on edge. Unchartered territory can be so exhilarating yet so unnerving all at once as you are called upon to significantly up your game.
Sometimes you must look back. Revisit where you were. Remember just how painful it was to continue to allow yourself to remain stuck in a stage or situation that was no longer aligned with who you are or what you want in life. How that pain and its consequences far exceeded the current discomfort of challenging yourself to grow, stretch, and evolve as you do better with the one life you have to live.
I hope this helps you reconnect with your focus and recognize the growth that can emerge from even the most difficult seasons. Sometimes life places us in situations that challenge us not to break us, but to shape us into stronger, wiser, more self-aware versions of ourselves. And perhaps the greatest transformation happens when we stop passively accepting what no longer serves us and begin moving forward with intention, clarity, and active choice.
