Maximize Your One Life

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗰𝘂𝗳𝗳𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻’𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲.
It was the belief that I had more time.
A client recently asked me what it was like to walk away from my 35-year corporate career.
The honest answer?
It wasn’t easy. But it was right…for me.
It wasn’t an overnight decision or a dramatic leap into the unknown. I simply reached a point where staying on a path that no longer felt aligned was costing me more than leaving it.
For years, I told myself I would do something different “someday.”
Someday, when I felt more certain.
Someday, when the timing was better.
Someday, when leaving behind the security, compensation, and identity I had built felt less frightening.
Then I acknowledged a truth I could no longer avoid: 𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗲.
And “someday” was not a plan.
So I made one.
I worked through the fear, strengthened my self-trust, and accepted that certainty would never arrive before I moved. I had to trust myself to navigate whatever came next.
Leaving corporate is not the answer for everyone.
Your right next chapter may be rising within an organization and becoming the kind of leader who makes corporate more human. It may be opening a bakery, writing a book, traveling the world, prioritizing your family, or simply changing how you live the life you already have.
𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿.
It’s about refusing to leave your life on autopilot.
You have one life. Maximize it, not by doing everything, but by choosing what matters and acting before “someday” quietly becomes never.
